Show Training starts with play drive. The first week will mainly be playing with the dog and building its drive with a certain toy that the dog is infatuated with. The selected toy will then be used for ring training and show stacking. Show training SV style is done with double handling, two handlers. One handler is the runner (the one holding the lead in the ring) and the other is the caller (the distracter outside of the ring). We begin training simply by having the dog chase its toy and the caller around the ring. The dog will pull the runner and stretch the lead. This allows the dog to dig into the ground with its hindquarters for better push off and lets the front legs reach out for better extension. The runner will walk at a slow pace and speed up depending on the dog’s gait. If the dog is running, the handler will slow down and pull in the lead until the dog is back into a trot and a good trot will be allowed a bit more lead for more speed. While doing this the dog is also conditioned to go around the show ring, not through it. A later technique is for the caller to hide form sight and the dog will look for him/her.

A few small noises for the hiding caller will encourage and excite the dog to find him/her, which the dog is later rewarded with the handler and the toy. Introduction of other dogs in the ring is fine at this point since the dogs should be conditioned well enough to only be interested in finding it caller. Show shacking is done after the ring training or while the dog is tired, they will be less concerned with being physically held in place. The caller will stand in front of the dog to distract him/her to help with the stacking process. Simultaneously with the ring training a dog will need to be conditioned. Ring training alone will not build your dog’s stamina and muscle, he/she will need to gait for a few miles everyday at different paces. Muscle building can also be acquired with the dog pulling heavy weight for a short time. These workouts must be monitored well as not to tire or strain the dog. Straining the dog to much can have very bad affects on his/her body.

The price below is on a monthly training session (2 per day), includes dog boarding and advance "dog" socialization.
